This is really powerful reporting on post-Assad Syria and womens rights. The point about quotas being necessary but insufficent really hits - when only 4% of parliament is women despite making up 14% of candidates, that gap speaks to way deeper structural barriers. I've seen similar stuff in other post-conflict transitions where 'inclusion' becomes code for tokenism without actual power redistribution. The Hijazi quote at the end is everything - can't have partial liberation.
