Incredible documentation of how public space transforms politically. The line about murals being 'collective therapy' after trauma really captures somethin deeper than just removing old symbols. Theres an interesting tensoin here between memorialization (honoring martyrs) and forward movement (building new identity) that most revolutions struggle with. The decentralized, local approach seems like it might help prevent a new visual monopoly from forming.

Thank you for your thoughtful reading and generous feedback. I truly value how you highlighted the tension between memorialization and moving forward.

If you’re interested, I’d love to invite you to check the Arabic version of the piece — it includes a rich set of murals and visual examples that deepen the idea of public space as collective therapy and make the argument more tangible on the ground.
